Finland suspends cooperation with Russia on Saimaa Canal

Moscow, Sep 11 (UNI) Finland has temporarily suspended cooperation with Russia within the framework of the Saimaa Canal Advisory Board that focused on the navigation in one of the most important waterways for Finland that connects Finnish largest lake Saimaa to the Baltic Sea, the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communication said on Wednesday.
"The work of the Saimaa Canal Advisory Board will be suspended for the time being," the ministry said in a statement.
The government evaluated the role of various multi-member bodies in supporting its work, which resulted in suspension of the work of the advisory board, it added.
