Female literacy increases to 74 pc under Nitish regime in Bihar : Minister

Patna, Apr 30 (UNI) Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar on Wednesday said female literacy had increased to 74 per cent from 34 per cent during the regime of Nitish Kumar government in Bihar.
Kumar told media persons here that focus was given on increasing female literacy in Bihar since 2005 when Nitish Kumar government was voted to power in the state.
Following sustained efforts of the government, female literacy rate had increased to 74 percent from 34 percent in Bihar, he added.

Calcutta high court cancels 317 teacher appointments made by GTA, calls process illegal

Kolkata, Dec 17 (UNI) The Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) has suffered a fresh setback in the Calcutta High Court over alleged corruption in teacher recruitment in the hills when Justice Biswajit Basu cancelled the appointments of 317 teachers, holding the entire recruitment process to be illegal and against the law on Wednesday.
The appointments were made by the GTA and later came under legal scrutiny.
