Far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich cites misgivings over Gaza peace deal, urges IDF to continue fighting

Jerusalem, Oct 9 (UNI) Far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has refused to support the Gaza ceasefire deal, announcing on Thursday morning that his Religious Zionism party will not vote in support of the deal, which sees a mutual prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas to halt the fighting in the Strip.
Expressing misgivings over the deal's 'short-sightedness', Smotrich issuing a statement expressed "mixed emotions," about the deal, remarking that while he felt "immense joy" at the pending return of the hostages, he is also experiencing "tremendous fear of the consequences of emptying the prisons and releasing the next generation of terrorist leaders, who will do everything to continue spilling rivers of Jewish blood, God forbid."
As such, he declared, "We cannot join in the short-sighted celebrations or vote in favour of the deal," and thus urged the troops to continue fighting, reports Jerusalem Post.
