Ex-Cong MLA Rahul Mamkootathil gets anticipatory bail in 2nd sexual assault case

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 10 (UNI) The Thiruvananthapuram Sessions Court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to former Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil in the second sexual assault case, marking a significant turn in the ongoing legal and political controversy surrounding the Palakkad legislator.
The latest case was filed by a 23-year-old woman from Bengaluru, who alleged that Mamkootathil had lured her to a home-stay in Kerala and raped her.
According to the FIR, the complainant stated that the accused recorded the assault and used the video to threaten her. The complaint was initially emailed to the state unit of the Congress party before being forwarded to the police. It was subsequently registered and handed over to the Crime Branch, which is currently investigating the matter.
