Eversun Marine to develop East Quay-6 berth on PPP Mode

Visakhapatnam, Feb 23 (UNI) Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) Chairperson Dr. M. Angamuthu has issued a Letter of Award (LoA) to M/s. Eversun Marine Trade Private Limited, Visakhapatnam, for the PPP Project “Development and Mechanisation of the Existing East Quay—6 Berth in the Inner Harbour of Visakhapatnam Port for Handling All Types of Cargo on a DBFOT Basis.”


The port, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. M. Angamuthu, is implementing asset monetization to become a landlord port, VPA Secretary T. Venu Gopal said in a release here.



Speaking on the occasion, the chairperson informed me that this facility would add more throughput to the Port of Visakhapatnam.




With an investment of Rs 66.12 crore, which can handle all types of cargo with a handling capacity of 2.62 MMTPA, the proposed facility is a semi-mechanization of the existing EQ-6 berth with a berth length of 255 mtrs, which involves installing a new Harbour Mobile Crane (HMC) with 1500 TPH and a Mobile Hopper of 150 T along with other handling equipment -- cranes, loaders, trucks, and forklifts.




The facility developed is envisaged for handling vessels up to 50,000 DWT with a maximum LoA of 200 mtrs. and a beam of 32 mtrs. at a draft of 11.50 mtrs.




The entire construction work, including the installation of new HMC and other project facilities, is likely to be completed within 15 months from the date of the award of the concession. The total concession period is 30 years.




The proposed facility is likely to generate at least 100 direct and indirect jobs for locals and shall be with state-of-the-art technology.
