Europe must be 'more responsible' for its own security: Czech PM

Brussels, July 18 (UNI) Petr Fiala, the prime minister of the Czech Republic, said Europe must be more responsible for its own security rather than relying on the United States, where the presidential election will take place in November.
"I am sure, as a political scientist and also as a politician, that Europe must be more responsible for its own security ... It’s not possible and also it’s not OK if we in Europe always hope or believe that our security is guaranteed by the United States ... We must be more responsible, we must care more about our defence, we must increase our defence expenditure," Fiala said in an interview with The Guardian on Wednesday.
He added that it is not important who will run the United States next incumbent President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump because "the United States has different, other interests in the world."
