Varun Dhawan brings comedy to life: Pooja Hegde

Mumbai, Jun 3 (UNI) Actress Pooja Hegde has heaped praise on her co-star Varun Dhawan, describing him as a performer who effortlessly injects life and spontaneity into every scene with his boundless energy and impeccable comic timing.
Both will share screen for the first time in the David Dhawan directorial "Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai".
Hedge says sharing the screen with Dhawan was a unique experience because his energy levels are constantly high.
She said, "Varun is always completely active. Even between takes, he's always trying something new, dancing, joking, or trying to perform a scene in a different way. He never lets the energy on set drop, and this has an impact on the entire team."
According to the 35-year-old actress, his greatest strength is that he makes scenes feel natural and lively, rather than rehearsed. She said this quality is rare in comedy, as comedic scenes often feel artificial. She explained that many of the film's funniest and most memorable moments were the result of spontaneous improvisation. Whether it was dance rehearsals or humorous dialogues, the atmosphere on set was kept extremely relaxed and open.
She said that her chemistry with Dhawan is not just built on the emotional scenes, but also on adapting to his fast-paced and spontaneous acting style. He brings something new to every take, forcing the actors to react instantly. "He genuinely loves to entertain people," she said. "It's clear. There's no artificiality in it."
Hegde believes that his greatest strength as a commercial Hindi film actor is his natural sense of entertainment, which continues to make him popular with audiences.
She said this energy formed the strong foundation of her and Dhawan's chemistry in "Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai", which releases June 5, 2026.
