Hindi film industry has a much higher female workforce compared to South industry: Kajal Aggarwal

Mumbai, June 3 (UNI) Actress Kajal Aggarwal nodded her head in agreement, saying women constitute a significant part of the workforce in Hindi cinema, but their participation in the southern film industries remains comparatively lower.
But she is hopeful that things will turn out optimistically in the near future. "But the numbers are changing. The graph is tilting. It’s just a matter of time before there will be a complete shift."
Aggarwal voiced her displeasure with the ongoing state of the Hindi film industry, although it is becoming inclusive, a wide gap still exists between the remuneration of male and female actors.
"Things are changing slowly. People are working toward it. It has become a lot more corporate, which has changed the game. And yet there is no comparison. The difference between male and female actors’ remuneration is massive," she elaborated to Variety India.
The conversation around remuneration and workplace conditions for female actors has gained renewed attention following Deepika Padukone’s exit from Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The debate has brought attention to matters such as fixed working hours, fair compensation and workplace expectations for female actors.
The 40-year-old actress will next be seen in "The India Story", which is scheduled to hit the theatres next month. UNI NST CDS
