'Bridgerton' season 5 expands cast with three new additions

London, Apr 8 (UNI) "Bridgerton" is expanding its ensemble for the upcoming fifth season, with Tega Alexander, Jacqueline Boatswain and Gemma Knight Jones joining the cast.
The Regency-era romantic drama, produced by Netflix and Shondaland, is currently filming in London.
In Season 5, two years after losing her beloved husband John, introverted middle Bridgerton daughter Francesca (Dodd) decides to reenter the marriage mart for practical reasons. But when John’s cousin Michaela (Baduza) returns to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complicated feelings will have her questioning whether to stick to her pragmatic intentions or pursue her inner passions.
Alexander will play Christopher Anderson, a Regency-era Casanova who could give the Bridgerton bachelors a run for their money. Yet behind his cheeky facade lies a current of self-doubt that threatens to unravel him. The son of Lord Anderson will make his mark on society, one way or another, reports DEADLINE.
Boatswain has been cast as Helen Stirling, Michaela’s vivacious mother, whose spirited guidance and firm encouragement shape her daughter’s path through the social season.
Jones is set to portray Lady Elizabeth Ashworth, Michaela’s close friend and confidante, whose playful demeanour is complemented by a practical understanding of society’s unwritten rules.
The forthcoming season will be followed by a sixth instalment led by Francesca’s sister Eloise, played by Claudia Jessie.
The eight-episode season is executive produced by showrunner Jess Brownell, alongside Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica and Chris Van Dusen. UNI NST CDS
