Ensure 24x7 surveillance across Amarnath Yatra route to prevent any untoward incident: DIG south Kashmir

Srinagar, July 18 (UNI) Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), South Kashmir Range, Javid Iqbal Mattoo today directed officers of different security agencies to maintain a high state of alertness, conduct proactive threat assessments and ensure 24x7 surveillance along the Amarnath Yatra route to prevent any untoward incident.
The direction was passed by DIG during a comprehensive security review meeting held at Pahalgam. The meeting was aimed to evaluate and strengthen security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
A police spokesman said the meeting witnessed participation of senior officials from key security and response agencies, including the Commander, Army’s Sector 1 Rashtriya Rifles (RR); DIG, CRPF; SSP Anantnag; Police Yatra Officer; and the Commanding Officers of BSF, ITBP, CRPF, and NDRF. Zonal Officers deployed along the Yatra axis also attended the briefing.
