Suryapet (Telangana), Apr 19 (UNI) A 21-year-old engineering student allegedly died by suicide in the early hours of Saturday by jumping from the hostel building at Ramapuram in Chilukuru Mandal of this district.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Krishnaveni, a third-year engineering student at GATE College. She hailed from Pigudupalli village in Jaipur Mandal, Mancherial district.
Krishnaveni had gone to her native place to celebrate the Ugadi festival and returned to college on Friday along with her mother. Both were staying in the college hostel.
In the early hours of Saturday, Krishnaveni allegedly took the extreme step by jumping from the building.
Upon receiving information, the police reached the spot and immediately shifted her to Kodad Government Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway, police said.
