Emily Blunt drops a hint about the sequel for The Devil Wears Prada

New York, Dec 5 (UNI) Speculations surrounding a sequel to the 2006 release "The Devil Wears Prada" kindled on Thursday when Emily Blunt, who portrayed the no-nonsense assistant Emily Charlton, teased the possibility of a sequel.
“There (are) rumblings,” Blunt, 41, told the crowd at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “There is stuff churning around. But I don’t know if I can confirm anything. But we would all be delighted.”
Though Blunt wouldn’t elaborate on the potential “rumblings,” her former Prada co-star and real-life brother-in-law Stanley Tucci recently told People magazine that he’s game to reprising his role as the savvy Nigel.
Blunt’s comments have reignited speculation about a follow-up to the iconic comedy, which starred Anne Hathaway as aspiring journalist Andy Sachs and Meryl Streep as the formidable fashion editor Miranda Priestley.
Reports surfaced in July that Disney was developing a sequel nearly two decades after the original film’s release. Writer Aline Brosh McKenna, who adapted Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel for the 2006 screenplay, is said to be attached to the project, with producer Wendy Finerman and director David Frankel also in talks to return.
Earlier in February, Blunt had a different take on a potential sequel, sharing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the cast is “good” without making a sequel. “Sometimes things should be cherished and preserved in this bubble and it’s okay."
Anne Hathaway, who played the film’s protagonist Andy Sachs, was dubious about revisiting the story. In an interview with Extra earlier this year, Hathaway said, “wouldn’t hold out too much hope” for a sequel after telling E! News that previous month that she didn’t “think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen.”
