Effectively lose fat with bariatric surgery: Dr Amit

Moga, Jul 20 (UNI) If the eating habits are not altered and regular exercising not included in the daily routine, by the year 2025 India will have over 17 million obese children earning it the dubious distinction of being the second most obese nation, Dr Amit Garg, Bariatric & Metabolic Surgeon, Fortis Hospital, Mohali said on Saturday.

While addressing the media, Dr Garg said obesity has become a global epidemic and elaborated its effects and treatments available. Globally, he said, 39 per cent of adults aged 18 years and above are overweight and about 13 per cent obese (WHO factsheet 2016). This global rise in obesity has also affected India as well. India which was traditionally known for malnutrition earlier has also seen a rise in number of cases of overweight and obesity.

Ludhiana, Jun 13 (UNI) BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today came down heavily on Punjab's Bhagwant Mann government, berating its "unconstitutional and anti-farmer policies" including the land pooling scheme and demanded it be withdrawn immediately.

During his campaign for the Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll, Chugh met farmer delegations, especially from 37 villages affected by the land pooling scheme. He was handed a detailed memorandum by the farmers, seeking urgent intervention and protection of their land rights.
