EEPC India leads 12-member engineering trade delegation to Turkiye

Istanbul, Apr 23 (UNI) EEPC India in association with Consulate General of India, Turkiye, led a multi-product engineering trade delegation to Istanbul, Turkiye from April 21-23.

EEPC India has chosen Turkiye as the destination to expand the engineering export domain and the 12-member delegation has chosen three focus product panels which have significant potential in Turkiye’s market.

India is the third top supplier to Turkiye after Russia and UAE for aluminium and its products, 10th supplier for electrical machinery and equipment and 11th supplier for medical and surgical equipmentm and pharmaceutical machinery.

The Indian delegation is looking forward to meet many buyers and potential partners during the visit, Consul General Mijito Vinito said on Wednesday.

The Consul General said that Turkiye has emerged as an important engineering destination for Indian exporters.

In the last five fiscal years, India’s engineering exports to Turkiye increased by 24 percent. The outbound engineering shipment to Türkiye rose by 11.5 percent during April 2024–February 2025 on an Y-o-Y basis.

India also has a positive trade balance with Turkiye in terms of engineering trade.

"Many Turkish firms have structured their Indian business holdings as joint ventures with Indian firms.

Turkish stakeholders are involved in engineering, procurement, and constructing (EPC) contracts as engineers, technical consultants, and constructors. Indian presence is noted in Türkiye’s textiles, agriculture, pharmaceutical, FMCG, chemicals, steel and automotive sectors. Turkish businesses have a presence in India’s manufacturing, infrastructure, engineering and textile sectors," stated Vinito.

EEPC India Chairman Pankaj Chadha highlighted that Türkiye serves as a base to do business with markets in Europe, Central Asia, and the Black Sea Region, besides expanding access to Africa and the Middle East.

"Turkiye serves as a production base for many global companies and serves as a key logistics hub in the region.

Similarly, India is an important market and center of economic growth in Asia. Turkish firms can locate their production base in India and manufacture for India and the region, besides participating in infrastructure and logistics projects. Indeed, many Turkish companies have increased visits to India to scout for business opportunities," he said.

Trade between India and Türkiye during 2024-2025 stood at USD 6.815 billion with a trade surplus of

USD 1.772 billion in favour of India. Total exports from India to Turkey has been recorded at USD 4.294 billion. India also has a positive trade balance with Türkiye in terms of engineering trade.

EEPC India Executive Director and Secretary Adhip Mitra said that recent US trade policies along with

growing uncertainty fuelled by ongoing geopolitical disputes may bring significant economic and financial market disruptions.

"In India too, there is a need to diversify our export destinations," he noted.

Türkiye is now the 8th largest destination of Indian engineering merchandise with cumulative exports valued at USD 2791.3 million during April 2024–February 2025.

R J Uday Kumar, Deprocon Controls is the delegation leader and Nishikant Jumde, director (exhibitions), EEPC India is the delegation coordinator and both are optimistic of the outcome of the visit.
