ED raids on cough syrup syndicate continue across multiple states

Lucknow, Dec 12 (UNI) Raids by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which began early Friday morning, continued at numerous locations across the country when reports last came in today evening.
The searches, launched as part of a money-laundering probe into the multi-state codeine cough syrup trafficking racket, targeted 25 premises linked to the alleged syndicate operating across Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Gujarat.
According to ED officials, the coordinated action covered locations in Lucknow, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Saharanpur, Ranchi, and Ahmedabad. The raids are focused on properties associated with key accused Shubham Jaiswal—believed to have fled to Dubai—his associates Alok Singh and Amit Singh, various cough syrup manufacturers suspected of supplying stock illegally, and chartered accountant Vishnu Agarwal.

Reacting to the association’s expression of concern over his remarks on IAS and IPS officers, Vikramaditya Singh said the IPS Association need not worry about his security as he is not a protectee of the IPS.
