ED conducts raids in ₹311 crore SBI bank fraud case linked to steel firms

New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Chennai Zonal Office, on Wednesday said it had recently conducted search operations at seven premises linked to Thangam Steel Ltd. (TSL), PS Krishnamurthy Steels Private Ltd. (PSK), and their directors and key co-accused in Chennai, for offences related to cheating and bank fraud.
The ED initiated the investigation based on two FIRs registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), EOB Chennai, for offences related to cheating and bank fraud under the IPC, 1860.
According to the FIRs, Thangam Steel Ltd. and PS Krishnamurthy Steel Pvt. Ltd. allegedly cheated the State Bank of India (SBI) of approximately ₹311 crore. The CBI has also filed chargesheets in the cases.
