ED attaches properties worth Rs. 7.72 Cr in Adarsh Credit Co-operative Society Case

New Delhi, Feb 16 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Jaipur zone, on Monday said it has attached movable and immovable properties worth Rs. 7.72 Crore in the matter of Adarsh Credit Co-operative Society Ltd. and others.
The ED initiated a PMLA investigation based on FIRs registered by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police, wherein it was alleged that the main accused, Mukesh Modi and Rahul Modi, colluded with a group of persons and associates who collected crores of rupees from investors/members of the society. These funds were then siphoned off by the Adarsh Group of Companies, its directors, firms, LLPs, and others, resulting in wrongful loss to the investors and corresponding wrongful gain for the accused.
The ED investigation revealed that Mukesh Modi and his family members controlled the society and its funds. They lured poor investors with promises of abnormally high returns, leading to collection of funds amounting to thousands of crores of rupees. The funds were diverted through unsecured loans, incentives/ex-gratia payments to family members serving in the society, agency commissions to family firms, loss-share trading, and investments in real estate and other businesses of Mukesh Modi, his family, and associates.
