ECI and International IDEA join forces to enhance electoral management and democratic governance

New Delhi, Nov 11 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) have signed a 'Statement of Intent' to collaborate on strengthening electoral management and promoting democratic development, the poll panel announced in a statement on Tuesday.
The agreement was formalized by International IDEA Secretary General Kevin Casas-Zamora and Rakesh Verma, Director General of the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), in the presence of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
This partnership is designed to foster bilateral cooperation, provide technical assistance, enhance capacity-building for election management bodies, and facilitate the exchange of expertise on electoral processes. Recognized globally as a model of independent election management, the ECI is expected to leverage this collaboration to further consolidate India’s robust electoral ecosystem.
