Easter joy echoes through Mizoram hills with hymns, prayers and celebration

Aizawl, Apr 20 (UNI) The sound of brass instruments playing the iconic Christian hymn "He’s Arisen" filled the crisp morning air across Mizoram on Easter Sunday, as Salvation Army band parties marched through towns and villages, awakening residents to the joy of Christ’s resurrection.
In the Christian-majority state, Easter was observed with deep reverence and exuberant celebration, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ — a moment seen by believers as triumph over death and the fulfilment of God’s promise of salvation.
From the break of dawn, sunrise services were held by various church denominations including the Presbyterian and Baptist congregations, where youth groups led special prayers and praise sessions. The night before, churches across the state had already begun their Easter vigils. Catholic churches marked the evening with solemn candlelight processions and midnight masses.
