East Jaintia Hills DC seeks report from police on 'death' of 3 coal miners

Shillong, Dec 8 (UNI) District authorities in mineral-rich East Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya would seek a report from the police on the reported death of three coal miners. “There is no such information that has been received by my office in this regard. However, I will seek a report from the police,” Shivansh Awasthi, the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills district, told UNI over the phone.
Local media reports claimed that three coal miners were buried alive after an illegal rat-hole mine collapsed at Thangskai village.
Quoting locals, media reported that the bodies were quietly removed in the dead of the night to avoid attention.
