Eminent neurosurgeon ,former SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Mahapatra passes away at 74

Bhubaneswar, Nov 2 (UNI) Odisha-born eminent neurosurgeon and former Vice-Chancellor of Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, on Monday night while undergoing treatment. He was 74. Regarded as one of the leading neurosurgeons in the world, Prof. Mahapatra was suffering from glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. He was airlifted to AIIMS, New Delhi, on September 27 for advanced treatment and underwent surgery on October 5.
