Odisha pays tribute to 'Gadajat Gandhi' Sarangadhar Das

Bhubaneswar, Sep 18 (UNI) Odisha on Friday remembered socialist leader Sarangadhar Das, popularly known as "Gadajat Gandhi", on his death anniversary, with heritage groups paying tribute to the freedom fighter and social reformer whose opposition to feudal rule made him a prominent figure in the Prajamandal movement. Das died on September 18, 1957. Born at Harekrushnapur in Dhenkanal on October 17, 1886, he studied at Ravenshaw College, the Tokyo Institute of Technology and the University of California, Berkeley, where he specialised in sugar technology.
