NGT seeks probe into alleged illegal resort on forest land in Odisha

Kendrapada, Oct 14 (UNI) The National Green Tribunal (NGT), Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata, has ordered a joint investigation into allegations of forest land encroachment, illegal tree felling and unauthorised commercial activities by a park and resort in Kotagada village under Ranpur tehsil in Odisha's Nayagarh district. Taking cognizance of a petition filed by environmental activist Dillip Kumar Samantaray against Jay Santoshi Maa Hill Side Park & Resorts and others, the Tribunal recently issued notices to the resort proprietor and several state and central authorities, directing a joint committee to inspect the site and submit a report within two months.
