Bengal: Receding Ganga leaves Manikchak battling erosion and post-flood challenges

Siliguri, Sep 23 (UNI) As the flood situation gradually improves in Manikchak, the receding Ganga has brought a fresh challenge for residents, with severe riverbank erosion intensifying in the Kamaltipur area of Malda. The water level of the Ganga at Manikchak Ghat was recorded at around 24.50 metres on Wednesday, below the danger mark. According to irrigation officials, the river is likely to continue receding and may fall to around 23.50 metres within the next two days.
