Jharkhand: Silli check dam breach floods fields, villages

Ranchi, Oct 3 (UNI) A check dam at Rani Hara near Khair Berra in Silli area of Ranchi district breached on Saturday, flooding nearby fields and several villages, officials said. The check dam is located in Godadih panchayat near the West Bengal border. The breach caused water to flow towards agricultural fields, affecting paddy crops. No loss of life or injury was reported, police said. Silli police station in-charge Naveen Kumar said the check dam, built to store rainwater, developed a breach of about 20 feet due to water pressure.
