Bamboo holds potential to strengthen rural economy, livelihoods: Odisha Minister

Bhubaneswar, Sep 19 (UNI) Bamboo has the potential to generate rural livelihoods and support a green economy, Odisha Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia said on World Bamboo Day. The Odisha Bamboo Development Agency (OBDA) observed World Bamboo Day 2026 on Friday, with Singkhuntia highlighting bamboo's applications in construction, furniture, handicrafts, packaging and food products. A Bamboo Haat at Anandaban, developed under the Odisha Forestry Sector Development Society, was inaugurated on the occasion.
