Bengal: Maoist leader Asim Mandal arrested in East Midnapore

Ranchi / Kolkata, Sep 17 (UNI) CPI (Maoist) central committee member Asim Mandal alias Akash was arrested from Lalat area of Patashpur in East Midnapore district, West Bengal, police said on Thursday. Mandal, who carries a combined bounty of Rs 2.20 crore declared by the Jharkhand and Odisha governments, was arrested by the Kolkata Police Special Task Force (STF), according to the information available in the case. Earlier reports had suggested that Mandal had surrendered in West Bengal.
