Odisha engineer detained after Rs 21.88 lakh cash seizure

Bhubaneswar, Oct 17 (UNI) Odisha Vigilance seized Rs 21.88 lakh in suspected unaccounted cash from a Superintending Engineer of the Mahanadi Northern Division in a late-night operation in Bhubaneswar, following a tip-off about alleged bribe collection from contractors, said officials on Saturday. Vigilance officials intercepted Prasanjit Das, posted at Jagatpur in Cuttack district, near AG Chowk while he was travelling in an officially hired Bolero. They recovered Rs 7.28 lakh from his possession. Subsequent searches at his rented flat in Trident Galaxy, Ghatikia, Bhubaneswar, led to the recovery of another Rs 14.60 lakh.
