Suvendu announces jobs, pay hike and education schemes ahead of Durga Puja

Kolkata, Oct 5 (UNI) Ahead of Durga Puja, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a series of measures, including new government jobs, a pay hike for temporary workers, increased food allowances for SC and ST hostel students, and a new higher-education scheme for unmarried women. Addressing reporters after a state Cabinet meeting at Nabanna on Monday, Adhikari said the monthly allowance for 'Karmabandhus', sanitation workers under the Land and Land Reforms Department, would be increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000.
