Ration card verification begins in Tripura

Agartala, Oct 01 (UNI) Tripura's Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department started a major check of ration-card beneficiaries from Thursday to find inactive, duplicate and possibly ineligible beneficiaries under the State's SMART-PDS system. The officials said cards with no ration lifted for six months in a row will be classed as "silent ration cards" and made inactive for a time. Ration allocations for these cards will be suspended while they are inactive. Beneficiaries will have three months to complete e-KYC checks.
