EAM meets with former PMs, opposition party leaders in Mauritius

Port Louis/New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is on a two-day visit to Mauritius, on Wednesday met with former prime ministers Navin Ramgoolam and Paul Bérenger. He also met with the Opposition party leaders.
In posts on X, the EAM said:
“A pleasure to meet with former Prime Minister @Ramgoolam_Dr this morning.
“Discussed our longstanding bilateral partnership and the broad-based desire for its further growth.
“Appreciate his expression of support for India-Mauritius ties.”
On his meeting with former PM Berenger, he posted:
“Good to meet former Prime Minister Paul Bérenger. A lively conversation on contemporary global issues.
“Value his support for India-Mauritius relations.”
EAM also met with the leader of the Mauritian Social Democrat Party (PMSD).
“Glad to meet Xavier Luc Duval, Leader of the Parti Mauricien Social Démocrat.
“Good exchange of views on deepening India-Mauritius partnership.”
And with the Leader of Opposition Arvin Boolell.
“Pleased to meet the Leader of Opposition Dr. Arvin Boolell.
“Discussed the India-Mauritius relationship and its significance for the prosperity and well-being of the Indian Ocean region.
“Welcome his support for the continuous strengthening of our ties.”
Earlier, the EAM interacted with Indians helping to build the Civil Service College project in Reduit, an India-assisted project.
“Delivered by India’ emerging as a symbol of trust.
“Happy to interact with those making this a reality at the site of the Civil Service College project in Réduit.
“Laud their commitment and professionalism. They keep the India flag flying high abroad.”
