Dropout rate declines in Tripura: CM

Agartala, June 15 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday said that the state has witnessed a significant decline in school dropout rates, attributing the improvement to the state government's sustained efforts to strengthen education and empower girls.
Speaking at a bicycle distribution programme for Class IX students at Shishu Bihar School in Agartala, the Chief Minister emphasised that women's education is essential for the development of society and the nation.
He said the government is implementing several initiatives to ensure girls receive quality education and greater opportunities for growth.

AR pays tribute to slain jawan

Dimapur, Jul 14 (UNI) Assam Rifles today paid tributes to Havildar Md Iqbal at its Training Centre and School at 3rd Mile in Dimapur. He was martyred in an IED blast near Sukhovi in Chumoukedima district on Monday.
Leading the wreath-laying ceremony, Assam Rifles DG Lt Gen Vikash Lakhera paid floral tribute to the fallen soldier.

Odisha panel clears premature release of Dara Singh, convicted in Staines murder case

Bhubaneswar, Jul 14 (UNI) The Odisha State Sentence Review Board (OSSRB) has recommended the premature release of Dara Singh, the life convict in the 1999 murder of Australian missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his two minor sons in Odisha's Keonjhar district, citing his "good behaviour" in prison.
The recommendation was made during the Board's meeting earlier this month, where it reviewed the cases of eligible life convicts for possible premature release.
