Draft of Bihar pumped storage project promotion policy approved: Samrat

Patna, July 15 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary today announced that the draft of the Bihar Pumped Storage Project Promotion Policy 2025 has been approved to promote Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) in the clean energy sector and to ensure grid stability through effective energy storage solutions.
Choudhary said here that with the growing share of renewable energy sources including solar, wind, and biomass, the challenge of maintaining grid stability was also increasing. In this context, pumped storage has emerged as a reliable technology, ensuring energy supply during peak demand periods, he informed.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that the National Electricity Plan (NEP) 2022–32 of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has also emphasised the importance of energy storage to integrate a higher share of renewables into the grid.
