Dr. Jitendra Singh to inaugurate AI lab, innovation hub at NIIST Golden Jubilee Finale

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 11 (UNI) union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will inaugurate a range of pioneering research and innovation facilities at the CSIR–National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR–NIIST) on October 15, marking the valedictory ceremony of the institute’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The minister will inaugurate the automated nodal hub for Next-Generation Dye-Sensitized Light Harvesters and a new Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Laboratory, underscoring NIIST’s expanding national role in scientific innovation and sustainable technology. He will also launch “Vidyut Svasthya”, a unique pedal-assisted exercise system that generates electricity from human kinetic energy to charge devices such as laptops and mobile phones, reflecting NIIST’s commitment to combining health, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
A key highlight of the Golden Jubilee event will be the inauguration of the Golden Jubilee Innovation Centre, designed to foster innovation-driven entrepreneurship and strengthen collaboration between industry and research. NIIST Director Dr. C. Anandharamakrishnan said the institute has taken a significant step towards promoting sustainability with the development of a nature-based purification system to restore the Padmatheertha Pond near the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
