Dr Hemant Sharad Pande assumes charge as WCL CMD

Nagpur, May 9 (UNI) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande on Friday assumed charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), the company said in a press release issued here on Saturday.
Dr. Pande brings with him 37 years of extensive experience in WCL and South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).
Prior to his appointment as CMD, he was serving as Director (Human Resources) at WCL.
During his tenure as Director (HR), he spearheaded several administrative and digital reforms within the organisation.
Key initiatives implemented under his leadership included the ‘SWASTH’ portal for healthcare management, the Dispensary Management System (DMS), and the modernisation of various HR portals.
He also laid special emphasis on strengthening industrial relations, employee welfare, social security measures, pension systems, medical facilities for retired employees and ensuring transparency in administrative processes.
Dr. Pande graduated in Mining Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology.
He also holds a Master of Technology degree in Mining, a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a PhD in Management.
To enhance his leadership and management capabilities, he underwent Advanced Global Techno-Management training at ESCP Business School and participated in study visits to France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands.
He was also part of the Indian delegation at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada Conference held in Toronto, Canada.
Dr. Pande began his professional career with Coal India Limited in 1989 as a Mining Engineer.
During his long association with WCL and SECL, he held several key positions across the organisations.
As Area General Manager of SECL’s Raigarh Area and General Manager (Project) at Gevra Area, he led several large-scale coal mining projects.
He played a crucial role in implementing SILO-based eco-friendly coal dispatch systems, in-pit crushing systems, and IT-enabled transparent operational mechanisms in the Gevra and Raigarh areas.
Under his leadership, a solar power unit was established in the Johilla Area, while several Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives were also undertaken successfully.
In 2022, he was honoured with the ‘Best General Manager Award’ by Coal India Limited.
WCL expressed confidence that Dr. Pande’s vast experience, visionary leadership, and innovation-driven approach would provide renewed direction and momentum to the company.
On the occasion, WCL Directors, the Chief Vigilance Officer, Heads of Departments, and other senior officials extended their best wishes to him.

Govt extends CGSMFI-2 0, enhances loan limit for large NBFC-MFIs
