Did EC help ruling parties win a lost election? Raj Thackeray questions move

Mumbai, Jan 14 (UNI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray raised serious questions over a recent decision of the Election Commission, alleging that it could be interpreted as assistance to ruling parties to turn around a lost election.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Thackeray objected to the Election Commission’s decision allowing candidates to meet voters without carrying campaign material a day after the municipal election campaign officially ended. He questioned whether this relaxation was meant to help those in power secure victory despite public discontent.
As per the Election Commission’s directive, candidates are permitted to meet voters till 5 pm on the evening before polling day, provided they do not distribute pamphlets, raise slogans, deliver speeches, or organise meetings. Criticising this decision, Raj Thackeray convened an urgent press conference, which was also attended by Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) chief Uddhav Thackeray.
