Development without environmental protection is destruction: Orissa HC Judge

Bhubaneswar, June 7 (UNI) Emphasising the need for sustainable development and environmental conservation, Justice Gourishankar Satapathy of the Odisha High Court said development without protecting nature amounts to destruction and called for collective efforts to safeguard the environment.
Speaking at a World Environment Day programme organised by the Nature Care Initiative at Jayadev Sadan in Paradip recently, Justice Satapathy described trees, air and water as nature’s greatest gifts to humanity.
“Trees provide shade, fruits, timber and oxygen. They give everything but take nothing in return. They are the ultimate symbols of service and sacrifice,” he said while addressing the gathering as chief guest.

Kolkata, Jul 10 (UNI) A 27-year-old man working as a sales executive in a private company has been arrested for allegedly raping his six-year-old cousin for over a year.
The police identified the man as Rajib Biswas.
The girl was taken to the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Thursday after she complained of pain and discomfort in her private parts to her parents, police sources said.
