Deported woman, son return from Bangladesh to Birbhum home after SC intervention

Kolkata, Dec 6 (UNI) After five months in the wilderness after being deported to Bangladesh by Delhi Police thinking her an infiltrator, Indian citizen Sunali Khatun at her advanced pregnant stage returned home with her eight-year-old son and was escorted to her village in West Bengal's Birbhum district on Saturday.
She entered through the Malda's Mehandipur border with her minor son, ending a five-month ordeal inside a Bangladeshi prison. The union government had agreed on December 3 to bring her back on humanitarian grounds after the Supreme Court stepped in on humanitarian grounds.
Sunali Bibi, along with son, was handed over by the Bangladesh Border Guard (BBG) to BSF on Friday night where TMC MP Samirul Islam was present during handing over to the Indian authorities.
