Demand for Safety Infrastructure on Mumbai–Goa Highway in Raigad District

Raigad, Dec 15 ( UNI) Raigad district guardian minister Bharat Gogawale has submitted a detailed representation to the Maharashtra government demanding urgent safety-related infrastructure works on the Mumbai–Goa National Highway, highlighting serious risks faced by residents due to inadequate facilities.
An urgent demand has been made to construct a safe underpass at Kolad in Raigad district. Kolad is a highly congested location with a busy railway station and significant pedestrian and vehicular movement. In the absence of an underpass, local residents and vehicles are forced to cross the highway directly, posing a grave risk of accidents, he said.
A dedicated underpass is essential to ensure safe movement and reduce accident rates. For Mahad city, Gogawale has demanded the development of a separate service road between Gandharpale and Sahilnagar. Currently, local city traffic and high-speed highway traffic use the same stretch, leading to frequent accidents and traffic congestion. A dedicated service road would segregate local and through traffic, improve internal city mobility, and significantly enhance road safety, he said.
