Delta powers India’s EV growth through local manufacturing

Bengaluru, Nov 15 (UNI) Delta Electronics India is accelerating India’s electric vehicle (EV) growth through its robust local manufacturing capabilities, providing end-to-end solutions for two- and three-wheeler EVs.
The company’s Bengaluru R&D and production facility has become a hub of innovation, combining high-voltage power electronics expertise with advanced testing and automation to support the rapidly expanding EV ecosystem in the country.
Guided by Chief Technology Officer Shashidhar Mathapati, visiting journalists to the facility witnessed a wide array of EV products, including portable chargers ranging from 700 W to 3 kW, onboard DC-DC converters, and battery swapping stations for two- and three-wheeler vehicles. These systems are engineered to handle voltage fluctuations across urban, semi-urban, and rural environments, ensuring reliability and safety.
“Our focus is on robust, locally designed solutions that can scale with the market,” Mathapati said, highlighting the importance of indigenous manufacturing in meeting India’s growing EV demand.
The facility’s automated testing infrastructure plays a critical role in delivering high-quality products. Scripted automation allows engineers to simulate thousands of test cases for chargers and powertrains, flagging inconsistencies and ensuring precision and reliability for OEMs. Environmental chambers test equipment under extreme conditions of temperature (-40°C to 125°C) and humidity (0–95%), reflecting Delta’s commitment to durability and safety.
Delta’s local manufacturing extends beyond EV chargers to essential components such as rectifiers, power electronics modules, and integrated systems required for EV infrastructure. By producing these elements domestically, Delta reduces lead times, ensures cost efficiencies, and strengthens supply chain resilience, positioning itself as a strategic partner for India’s EV industry.
Since 2015, Delta India has committed USD 500 million to develop end-to-end design, testing, and manufacturing capabilities in the country. This investment underpins the company’s leadership in power electronics, industrial automation, renewable energy, and EV infrastructure, while supporting India’s vision for a self-reliant and sustainable EV ecosystem.
With its local manufacturing expertise, Delta Electronics India is not only meeting current EV market needs but also paving the way for scalable, reliable, and technologically advanced solutions for India’s future mobility landscape.
