Delimitation based on 2011 Census will harm southern states: Telangana Dy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, Apr 11 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Saturday warned that conducting constituency delimitation solely based on the 2011 Census could adversely impact southern states and even threaten their political relevance.
Speaking at the bicentenary celebrations of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule held at Ravindra Bharathi here, Bhatti said that ignoring caste census data in the delimitation process could alter the political balance in the country, potentially allowing governments at the Centre to be formed without significant representation from southern states.
He alleged that southern states are being financially disadvantaged by the Centre, claiming that their share in tax devolution has been reduced.
