Delhi's Britannia Chowk renamed after veteran journalist Ashwini Chopra

New Delhi, 12 Jun: Britannia Chowk in North West Delhi was renamed on Friday as Ashwini Chopra (Minna) Chowk to honour the veteran journalist, Ashwini Kumar Chopra, former editor of the Punjab Kesari Group. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu unveiled the plaque during a formal renaming ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said Chopra was a “fearless journalist” who pursued truth and used his pen to amplify the voice of society, bringing issues of public concern into the national discourse. As a tribute to his contributions to society, the Delhi government dedicated the roundabout in his name, marking his birth anniversary.
Sandhu applauded Chopra for his courage and affection, and urged the residents to join hands with the government and Chopra’s family members to make this roundabout the cleanest in the city. “Now the collective responsibility of citizens, the administration and the family is to ensure that this chowk becomes one of Delhi’s cleanest, most beautiful and well-maintained public spaces,” Sandhu said.
