Delhi records a hot February day as temperature soars to 28.6 degrees

New Delhi, Feb 10(UNI) Delhi witnessed an unusually warm Tuesday, with the maximum temperature rising to 28.6°C, 5.2 degrees above normal for this time of the month, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather department data for the current month in past years showed that such elevated temperatures have become more frequent at Safdarjung, the city’s base weather station, during the first half of the month since last year.
Temperatures above 28°C are typically more common in the latter half of February, with a few exceptions in recent years. IMD data showed that, of the nine days in February last year when the maximum temperature reached 28°C or higher, three occurred on or before February 15.
