Delhi election results: AAP Chief Kejriwal concedes defeat, congratulates BJP

New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday conceded defeat in the Delhi assembly election and congratulated the BJP for their victory.
In a video message, the former Chief Minister said, "I humbly accept the mandate of the people and also congratulate the BJP for their victory. I hope the BJP will fulfill all the promises they have made for which the people of Delhi have voted them".
Kejriwal said that in the last 10 years, the AAP government had done a lot of work in the field of education, health, water, electricity and many other areas.
"During our tenure we also tried to build infrastructure. Now that the people of Delhi have given us a mandate we will play the role of a constructive opposition and continue to work for the welfare of people of Delhi," the former Chief Minister said.
He said that they "did not come into politics for power" but considered politics a a medium, through wihich they could do social work and address the needs of the people.
Moreover, he also thanked all the AAP workers for bravely fighting the election.
Meanwhile, the BJP has won the 70-member assembly election with a thumping majority, with the last round counting still underway in some constituencies.
