Delhi court adjourns hearing in defamation complaint against Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi, Jun 13 (UNI) A Delhi court adjourned hearing on Friday in a defamation complaint filed against Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the request of her counsel.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Paras Dalal after hearing the request of Zoheb Hossain and Pranjal Tripathi, counsels for Nirmala Sitharaman, said, "Time sought by the proposed accused side to file vakalatnama. Although the summons have been received back duly served. The proposed accused side has sought a copy of complaint. The complainant side agrees to supply the soft copy of the same alongwith the link of the purported defamatory material/interview."
He said the matter should be fixed for consideration/arguments on June 26at 11:30 am.
Lipika Mitra, wife of former AAP MLA Somnath Bharti, filed a criminal defamation complaint against Sitharaman for allegedly making statements over their marital discord.
It is alleged that at a press conference on May 17, 2024 Sitharaman has made defamatory, false and malicious statements with the intention to tarnish Bharti's reputation. UNI XC SSP
