Deepam will be lit at Thiruparankundram hillock temple once NDA forms govt in TN : Rajnath

Chennai, Apr 19 (UNI) Coming down heavily on the ruling DMK and accusing it of involved in illegal sand quarrying and deteriorating law and order situation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said the Deepam would be lit atop the Thiruparankundram temple once the NDA comes to power after the Assembly elections, which is just three days away.
Speaking while campaigning for BJP candidates Ananthan Ayyanathan and Balakrishnan at Vasudevanallur-Reserved and Radhapuram constituencies in the southern Tenkasi district, during road shows from an open vehicle, Rajnath Singh said the deepam would be definitely lit as per the court orders.
It may be noted that the Supreme Court on an appeal filed by the Tamil Nadu challenging the Madras High Court order permitting lighting of Karthigai Deepam at the stone pillar near the dargah atop the Tiruparankundram hillock which houses the famed Murugan temple--one of the six abodes of the Lord-- at its foothills, refused to interfere with the HC judgment.
