Daylight robbery at Zirakpur jewellery store: ₹2.5 cr worth of gold, silver looted

Zirakpur (Mohali), July 11 (UNI) In a daring daylight robbery, two unidentified assailants looted gold and silver worth approximately Rs 2.5 crore from a jewellery store in the Dhakoli area of Zirakpur. The suspects held the shop owner’s father hostage before executing the heist and fleeing on a motorcycle.
According to police officials, the robbers decamped with two kilograms of gold, 15 kilograms of silver, and around Rs 20,000 in cash. In an apparent effort to cover their tracks, the culprits also took away the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) connected to the CCTV cameras installed in the showroom. The entire act was carried out in a swift 10 to 15-minute operation.
Govind, the owner of the jewellery showroom, said he was in Chandigarh’s Manimajra at the time of the incident, while his father was alone at the shop.
