Dalwai questions govt stand on hazardous production, Protest march planned

Chiplun (Maharashtra) , Feb 17 (UNI) A major agitation is brewing in the region as the Konkan Paryavaran Sangharsh Samiti prepares to organise a conference followed by a large protest march against hazardous production of chemical products by Laxmi Organic Industries operating in the Lote Industrial Estate in Khed Taluka.
The announcement was made by Congress leader and former MP Husain Dalwai at a press conference held here on Tuesday. He said that preparatory meetings at the village level are witnessing strong participation and support from local residents whose health has been adversely affected by chemical pollution.
Dalwai alleged that the company was set up with active backing from the government and its officials, and claimed that authorities are fully aware that hazardous chemical products are being manufactured at the facility.
