Dacoit is a desi modern take on the classic Romeo-Juliet story: Adivi Sesh

Mumbai, April 14 (UNI) Actor Adivi Sesh has opened up about the emotional depth of his upcoming film 'Dacoit', describing it as a modern interpretation of the timeless classic Romeo and Juliet tale, set in the authentic and raw environment of rural India.
Although the film features action and revenge, according to Sesh, its true core is the story of two former lovers whose past relationship continues to impact their lives. The film shows how unrequited love transforms over time — sometimes into longing, sometimes into anger, and sometimes into a sense of forgiveness or reparation.
Sesh said, "For me, Dacoit isn't just a story of conflict or revenge. At its heart is a love story. It's a Romeo-Juliet story for our times, but in a setting that feels very real and down-to-earth. These are two people who once loved each other deeply, but life took them on different paths. When they meet again, it's not just about reliving old feelings, but about confronting everything that has changed in their love over time."
Sesh said what he found most special about this story was the truth of its emotions. He said, “I've always been fascinated by the idea of 'everlasting love.' Not in a fairy tale way, but in the way that it remains within you, even when relationships change or end. In Dacoit, love doesn't end; it transforms— sometimes into pain, sometimes into strength, and sometimes into revenge.”
Clarifying the comparison, Sesh stated that the film does not attempt to recreate Romeo and Juliet, but instead draws inspiration, from emotional depth. "We're showing that kind of love—deep, complex, and long-lasting — in today's world. It's raw, not perfect, and that's what makes it authentic."
