Curtain raiser: Indian players set to shine as excitement builds for French Open

New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) Anticipation is soaring as the French Open 2024 tennis tournament kicks off at the historic Stade Roland Garros in Paris on Monday. The main draw matches of the season's second Grand Slam are scheduled to start on May 26.
India's Sumit Nagal has made headlines by earning a spot in the men's singles main draw, becoming the first Indian male player to do so since Prajnesh Gunneswaran in 2019. Nagal's impressive career-high world ranking of 80 secured his entry. Recently, the 26-year-old stunned the tennis world by defeating world No. 38 Matteo Arnaldi at the Monte Carlo Masters, making him the first Indian in 42 years to qualify for the main draw of an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
